Tray Dryer
The Tray Dryer provides reliable batch drying with precise temperature control and multi-tray capacity for efficient pharmaceutical processing.
- The Tray Dryer is designed with robust cabinet construction featuring insulated walls, ensuring uniform temperature distribution and energy-efficient drying operations.
- Multiple tray capacity (4-12 trays depending on model) enables simultaneous drying of different batches, significantly increasing production throughput.
- Hot air circulation system with adjustable air velocity ensures consistent drying across all trays without hot spots or uneven moisture removal.
- Precision temperature control system maintains accurate temperature range from 40-85°C with ±2°C accuracy, protecting heat-sensitive pharmaceutical products from degradation.
- All product contact surfaces are constructed from SS 316 stainless steel, meeting pharmaceutical hygiene standards and preventing product contamination.
- Non-contact components are fabricated from SS 304, providing durability and corrosion resistance for long-term reliable operation.
- Accessible tray design with easy loading and unloading mechanism simplifies material handling and reduces operator labor time per batch.
- Tray shelves can be positioned at multiple heights, accommodating different product depths and enabling flexible batch processing.
- Integrated humidity monitoring system enables precise control of drying conditions and provides real-time feedback for batch optimization.
- Waste water drainage system at the cabinet base facilitates easy removal of condensate and maintains clean operating conditions.
- Digital display shows real-time temperature, humidity, and drying time, providing complete process visibility and batch documentation.
- Safety features include automatic shutoff at maximum temperature and over-temperature alarm protection for operator and product safety.
- Modular tray design enables easy replacement or addition of trays for future capacity expansion without equipment modification.
- Low-noise operation ensures a quiet manufacturing environment suitable for pharmaceutical facility standards.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many trays does the Tray Dryer hold?
Five models: TD-12, TD-24, TD-48, TD-96 and TD-192, holding 12 to 192 standard trays. TD-12 to TD-48 have one door and one blower; TD-96 has two doors and two blowers; TD-192 has two doors and four blowers. Blower motors are 0.5-1 HP depending on model.
What temperature range does it run at?
40-85 °C, held to about +/-2 °C by the digital controller. That is warm enough to dry granules, crystals and wet cakes in a practical cycle while staying below the degradation threshold of most heat-sensitive actives.
How long is a typical drying cycle?
Two to twelve hours, depending on the solvent, wet load, tray depth and target loss-on-drying. Water-wet pharmaceutical granules usually finish in 4-8 hours. Dry to a moisture specification (LOD or Karl Fischer), not a fixed clock time.
What are the product-contact parts made of?
All product-contact surfaces, including the trays, are SS 316. The cabinet frame, trolleys and non-contact components are SS 304. Cabinet walls are insulated for uniform temperature and lower energy use, and the base has a drain for condensate.
Should we use a Tray Dryer or a Fluid Bed Dryer for granules?
A Tray Dryer is slower (hours rather than under an hour) but gentler on friable granules and much lower in capital cost, which suits small or infrequent batches, R&D and heat-tolerant material. A Fluid Bed Dryer gives faster, more uniform drying for routine high-volume granulation. See our guide 'Fluid Bed Dryer vs Tray Dryer' for the full comparison.
What qualification documentation is available?
The dryer ships with an operating and maintenance manual as standard. DQ, IQ and OQ protocols and material-of-construction certificates are available on request to support GMP qualification.
