Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes are available and what is the throughput?
Five sizes by sieve diameter: 12 in (300 mm) through 20, 30 and 36 in to 48 in (1520 mm). Throughput runs from roughly 20-70 Kg/hr on the 12 in up to 200-400 Kg/hr on the 48 in, depending on mesh, material and bulk density.
How easy is it to change the sieve?
The sieve deck is held by a single clamp ring, so a sieve change or a wash-down takes a couple of minutes with no tools. Sieves are silicon-moulded and lead-free for pharmaceutical use.
What charging and discharge heights should we plan for?
Charging height is about 1050-1200 mm and discharge height about 500-750 mm across the range, so the sifter feeds straight into a bin, blender or IBC without a platform on most layouts. Exact figures are on the specification sheet per model.
Can it be moved between rooms?
Yes. The unit runs on castor wheels for repositioning within a facility. Construction is non-flameproof as standard; a flameproof motor can be specified for solvent-zone areas.
What drives the screening action?
A vibratory motor with adjustable top and bottom eccentric weights. Changing the weights alters the amplitude and the lead angle of the powder path across the screen, which sets residence time and throughput for a given mesh.
Where is it used in a pharma line?
Sizing and de-lumping of raw materials on intake, sieving of milled or dried granules before blending, and security screening of the finished blend before compression or filling to remove agglomerates and foreign matter.
